Regional
Medical Center Offering Weight Management Program
Posted 19 March
2010
Jones Regional
Medical Center will be offering a weight control program developed by
dietitians certified in Weight Loss Management by the American Dietetic
Association called Pounds Off Program for Success, or POPS. The
program will be from 12:15-1 p.m. every Thursday in the hospital
cafeteria, with the first session beginning on April 1.
The program is for anyone who wants to be in a weight management
program. If you have a medical condition that could be affected
by weight loss, such as diabetes, high blood pressure or others, it is
advised to check with a doctor prior to starting this weight loss
program. The initial program consists of 10 sessions (April 1 –
June 3). Each session costs $10. Participants pay as they come.
“We know that many people who are successful at taking weight off and
keeping it off utilize groups such as this to assist them with losing
weight and maintaining weight loss,” says Marilyn McCall, Jones
Regional dietitian. “We also know that losing a modest amount of
weight, even just 10 percent, may benefit our health and reduce the
risk of diseases such as pre-diabetes and hypertension. The goal
is to provide you with information and tools to take you forward with
your weight management journey.”
To learn more about the class or to pre-register, please call McCall at
319-481-6353.
