Vision
Iowa
Board
Releases Annual Report
Posted 15 March
2010
The Vision Iowa Board
released its 2010 Annual Status Report last week. Since the program
inception in 2000, the Board has directly leveraged more than $346
million in awards into more than $1.5 billion of investment in Iowa. In
the program's nine years, investments have been made in 93 counties and
224 communities. The program is now funded through the I-JOBS program,
the Culver/Judge Administration's $830 million investment to improve
Iowa's infrastructure and retain and create jobs without raising taxes.
"I am pleased to once again commend the members of the Vision Iowa
Board for their foresight, their commitment to strengthening Iowa's
communities, and for their positive view of Iowa's future," said
Governor Chet Culver. "But even more than that, I want to thank the
hundreds of Iowa communities which have taken advantage of the
opportunities made available by Vision Iowa, and I look forward to what
we will do together in the future."
"The Vision Iowa program is all about partnerships - partnerships
between the public, private, and non-profit sectors; and partnerships
between state and local government," said Vision Iowa Board Chairwoman
Regenia Bailey. "Our funding of local projects requires hard work,
vision, and comprehensive planning by individual communities. Vision
Iowa leverages this local investment of financial and human resources
into projects that have strong community support and broad impact-on
the local, regional, and state level."
To support the sustainability initiatives and cost-saving measures of
Governor Culver and IDED, this year's report is available only in
electronic form. It can be accessed here.
Vision Iowa continues to provide financial incentives to communities
for the construction of recreational, cultural, educational or
entertainment facilities that enhance the quality of life in Iowa
through two programs: Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) and River
Enhancement Community Attraction and Tourism (RECAT).
